"Torprojekt" was formed on September 1, 2009. In its initial phase, the company’s staff consisted mainly of the former employees of the (now-defunct) Centralne Biuro Projektowo-Badawcze Budownictwa Kolejowego “Kolprojekt” (The Main Design – Research Office for Railway Construction ”Kolprojekt”).

The company’s strong legacy was systematically developed over the span of 60 years of activity in the field of comprehensive design studies, design and conceptual development studies and research. Its experience includes field studies and mapping of approximately 8,500 km of railway lines, the design of new railway lines, rail splines, rail sidings with a total length of 1,700 km as well as remodeling / upgrade designs, the additions of second tracks with a length of about 750 km, railway line modernization projects, technical documentation for approximately 195 railway stations, the modernization of 16 Rolling Stock Repair Facilities (Zakłady Naprawcze Taboru Kolejowego ZNTK), the extension of 25 maintenance depots, including the construction of 5 new facilities, and many other projects constituting the company’s contribution to the modernization of Poland’s State Railways (PKP) and positioning it as the premier design office in the country.

Over the span of several years, Torprojekt has expanded its activities and currently employs 40 highly qualified professionals, including engineers and technicians, all of whom are experts in their fields. The company actively cooperates with specialists from research centers, including the Warsaw University of Technology (Politechnika Warszawska).
